FAQs

Encountering ABA for the first time or transitioning to a new ABA provider can spark a lot of questions.

Allow us to ease your mind by answering them for you.

  • ABA teaching has the ability to expand into a child’s natural environment and in generalized settings so the child does not only learn during treatment sessions at a desk, but also in their natural environment. Because our services are mostly in-clinic, we have designed our centers to be based speciffically on naturalistic environments.

  • ABA is a structured teaching method. However, our critical focus is to systematically teach children how to generalize skills across objects, people, and situations. “Generalization” means the child will be able to respond regardless of who they are talking to or what situation they are put in.

  • At Willow, or mission is not to “fix,” “heal,” or “cure.” Our goal is to help eliminate barriers (e.g., challenging behaviors, distractions) and target teaching functionial skills (e.g., communication, social interactions) in order to help each child access more environments and have a fulfilling life. In some situations, the core symptoms of Autism become less severe to the point that a child may not meet diagnostic criteria later in life, but our goal is to work with your family to target primary barriers and skills that will be functional for your family.

  • We define behavior as actions that are observable. This means that we specifically work on all things that can be observered including challenging behaviors (e.g., aggression, tantrums), communication (e.g., asking for needs and wants), leisure and play (e.g., fine and gross motor activities), social skills (e.g., cooperative play with peers), and functional daily living skills (e.g., brushing teeth, getting dressed).

  • Willow’s Director of Insurance will run an in-depth quote of benefits to determine if you have ABA coverage and provide you with a meticulous estimate as to how much ABA therapy might cost you per year. Our Director of Insurance will also be available for any questions you may have regarding the insurance process, and be able to walk you through the steps of navigating your insurance.

  • Your child is under the direct supervision of a BCBA (Board Certififed Behavior Analyst). A BCBA is a certified practioner who receives their masters in ABA and creates your child’s behavior plan. You will have the ability to set up parent training with your BCBA as well as communicate back and forth on how your child is doing in the progress.

  • ABA can make a huge impact on a child’s quality of life, regardless of the level of severity of his, her, or their symptoms. ABA has been used effectively to address behavior problems as well as social and academic delays for many indivudlas receiving services. ABA is also effective in modifying curriculum by teaching small steps through discrete trials.

  • Our dedicated insurance department will work closely with you and your isnruance carrier to achieve a single-case agreement. This allows Willow to act as an in-network provider and be able to service your child’s needs without payoutr your out-of-network deductible.
